PDP Is Behind The Formation Of Boko Haram Sect – Buhari
A former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, has accused the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of being the brain behind the formation, growth and sustenance of the Boko Haram sect currently terrorising the nation.
The APC leader was reacting to a recent allegation by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, who said that Buhari’s comments, prior to the 2011 election showed that he founded the group.
Buhari, while reacting to the claim through the former national publicity secretary of the now rested Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Rotimi Fashakin, in a text message to Punch, in Abuja, on Monday, said, Metuh, the PDP spokesman, was showing as much desperation as Joseph Goebbels in the last days of the Hitler regime.
According to him, Metuh was only out to dent the image and reputation of the former Military General.
Fashakin said, “The former National Security Adviser, Late Gen. Andrew Azazi, was unequivocal in his assertion that the power play in the PDP was the raison d’etre of the Boko Haram insurgency. Apparently, the discomfort caused within the PDP hierarchy was the reason for his sack.
“Furthermore, we knew of the confessional statement to the State Security Service by one of the PDP stalwarts that the contact with Boko Haram was with the imprimatur of the Vice President, Namadi Sambo.”
He noted that the poor conduct of the recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Immigration Service was one, out of several examples of the Jonathan failed administration and incompetency.
Fashakin said, “General Muhammadu Buhari has proven his mettle as a patriotic Nigerian leader, whose passion for the virility of the Nigerian nation is untrammelled.
“He is still the reference point in transparent, honest and compassionate leadership. This, obviously, contrasts the present leadership that constantly evinces larcenous disposition in its governance of the nation. Indeed, Nigerians are asking: where is the $20bn that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has not remitted to the Federation account?” He queried.
