E•X•P•R•E•S•S•I•V•E: ARE OUR PROFESSORS SICK UPSTAIRS OR THE SYSTEM?

ARE OUR PROFESSORS SICK UPSTAIRS OR THE SYSTEM?

For me, prof. Onukogu, not attahiru jega should bury his head in shame. Taking Anambra Governorship election as a case study, in the words of my mentor, Baba Ola Tars Omojola! “There are so many WHYS? for which honest, truthful and convincing answers are needed. Why must INEC deploy a fraud, a person who lacks character and pedigree to IDEMILI? Why should POLICE without Court Order put El - Rufai under house arrest? Why should Governor Peter Obi question the presence of El - Rufai in Awka on an election day? Is ANAMBRA a village?” But let me quickly add here that: “Why should INEC’s national body repeat the same mistake of using Prof. Onukogu, with all his unpalatable antecedents? Why Onukogu again have been alleged to be grossly partial in the past, particularly in 2011 where he conducted Onitsha South 2 House of Asembly constituency and Idemili South House of Assembly which he had declared inconclusive only for him to announce candidates of ruling party in the state as the winner by 12midnight?

In the words of same elder, Baba Ola Tars Omojola, “Are Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chike Obi, Chuba Okadigbo, Ukpabi Asika, Odumegwu Ojukwu, Chinua Achebe, Onyeka Onwenu, Ekwunife, Ezekwesili etc etc not indigenes of Anambra? What ostrich mentality is Peter Obi exhibiting and manifesting now? Must APGA or PDP win at all costs? Must IDEMILI be disenfranchised to install an APGA or PDP governor in Anambra State? Guys move Nigeria forward positively”…I also am asking here that why should people’s collective right be subverted? Is it not the height of lack of incompetence for a gubernatorial candidate alongside his family ‘s names to be omitted from the voter’s register? Prof. Jega only 72 hours before the election said emphatically that all logistics had been corrected and that Anambra election would be better off the past ‘glory’ (if there is any), but alas, the debris of this nightmarish election will for a long time remain indelible in the annals of history.

If am judgemental (as often accused), can every other person be wrong too? Can the local as well as international observers be wrong too? Could the over 200 market women who took to the streets of Awka in protest, not on behalf of any particular political party but because countless people were disenfranchised have be wrong? What suddenly went wrong if just in 2011, about 180,000 were registered in Idemili North local government as voters and thus voted during a re-run, only for same local government to reveal 72 voters! How absurd could that be? Why is it that elections seem to be best won at courts in Nigeria? Do we blame professor Jega for retaining a man who has been severally accused of impropriety or do we blame the system as a whole? Could Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner have acted out a script? How sure are we that 2015 will not be a fiasco? Are we back into the days of professor Maurice Iwu’s? Is anything really wrong with our professors upstairs?...Time! Time!! Time!!!www.kokumolivee.blogspot.com
