The Senate President, David Mark and the Minister of Communication and Technology, Mrs. Bolaji Johnson will soon be conferred with honorary Chieftaincy titles as part of activities to mark the 60th birthday and seventh installation anniversary of the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor kiladejo.

Others to be honoured are the Super Nollywood Star, Omotola Jolade Ekeinde, President of Black Archaeologists in America, Olakunle Akinboboye and a Business Mogul, Engr. Raymond Akinyele.

According to the Chairman of the Planning and Organizing Committee, Chief Noah Fadayomi, who spoke with our reporter at a press briefing in Ondo town, he said the awardees were divided into two categories.

He explained that Mark and other non-indigenes fell on the first category of the awards, adding that they were picked due to their commitments to nation building.

The Chairman of the anniversary committee particularly stressed that the Senate President was picked for a Chieftaincy title because he saw all the constituencies as his own.

Fadayomi said, Johnson, Omotola Jolade, Akinboboye and others fell on the second category as indigenes of Ondo town and they were chosen due to their commitments to the development of the ancient community.
“Those who fell in the first category will be conferred with the titles on Saturday and those who fell on the second category, who are mainly indigenes will be conferred with the titles on Friday” the Chief said.
The week long event, which will start on November 6, is aimed at realizing the vision 2015 of making Ondo state a better place.

Fadayomi said “The Ondo people are now feeling refreshed. We are experiencing considerable peace. As the Chief officer of the Kingdom, Oba Kiladejo knows his roles. He has good relationship with the security agency, the government and lawmakers. The vision 2015 which the Oba came with will be achieved.

“Technically, Ondo is a city. All these are in the mind of the Monarch. The Ondo people are very happy, they have been mobilized to achieve the vision 2015. Compare the city with anyone in the western world in terms of economy, social, security infrastruture.

“As a Medical Doctor, it is the dream of the Monarch to make Ondo the last bus stop for medical intervention. He is working frantically with the governor of the state, lawmakers and indigenes of the community to make Ondo a medical hub”.

However, the Chairman said free medical services and distribution of eye glasses through Oba Kiladejo Crown Foundation (KCF) would be conducted for the indigenes of the community during the event.
