Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo was
literally ‘stripped’ on Monday when ex-Bayelsa Governor, Chief Diepreye Solomon
Alamieyeseigha opened up on how he shielded some oil thieves during his tenure
as the leader of the country.
According to Alams, half of Nigerian oil
was stolen daily with full knowledge of foreign embassies and the former
president.
The former governor gave this shocking
revelation when officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC,
appeared before the Senator Adamu Aliero led Committee on Public Finance and
Revenue on Monday.
He told the Committee that some oil thieves he caught when he was governor of
Bayelsa state were freed because of high level conspiracy and connivance of
NNPC officials.
