Female Banker Jailed 5 Years For Stealing Bank’s Money


.......She Stole N10m and Must Pay Back N13m 




A former staff of Mainstreet Bank, Hadiza Mustapha, on Monday [Mar. 31] bagged a five-year jail term at the Kano State High court, for misappropriating money belonging to Bank.
Ms. Mustapha was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, alongside, Mahmud Sule, on a 10-count charge bordering on forgery and theft. A statement by the Head, Media and Publicity, EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, said the duo were accused of illegally diverting and misappropriating N10 million.

The N10 million, Mr. Uwujaren said, was part of a fixed deposit made by a customer, Munnir Adamu. The first count on which Mr. Sule was charged, was however dismissed for lack of evidence. Consequently, he was discharged and acquitted.


Ms. Mustapha was however convicted on nine of the 10 charges by the presiding judge, Dije Aboki. She was sentenced to 12 and six months imprisonment on count two and counts three to 10 respectively. She is also expected to a pay a fine of N120, 000 while the sentences run concurrently.

Mr. Aboki in his judgement ordered that the convict should pay N13 million in restitution to the bank.
