BEFORE YOU KILL YOUR HUSBAND....

BEFORE YOU KILL YOUR HUSBAND....

For days now, a number of interesting issues have pervaded the ambience of the political landscape of Nigeria, prominent among which were the issues of the internal wrangling within the People's Democratic Party and more predominantly the drama that has hitherto characterized the home-coming of the brain-damaged helmsman of the State of Taraba, Danbaba Danfulani Suntai. The dramatis personae on the latter have continued to throw jabs across to each other but that really is not the issue I want to opinion-ate here. It is not about the constitutionality of his headship to continue to steer the state's voyage, neither is it about the legal apologia for the State's House of Assembly to forestall his take over.

A different view is taking a moral x-ray of the governor's action via-a-vis his excruciating health condition in juxtaposition with his laughable come-back. I was aware of the moves by the state assembly before now to invoke the constitution to confirm the deputy governor who has been in acting capacity since the past ten (10) months of his being incapacitated, and in a counter move to prevent his (acting governor) from being confirmed the substantive governor, the ailing governor was "whisked" into the country at a time when his condition was far from near-healing. A typical replica of the scenario that surrounded late president, Umoru Musa Yar'Adua's protracted ailment.

One cannot but, in an attempt to question the rationale behind such drama, ask why are people so desperately power-avaricious! Like Turai Yar'Adua like Danbaba Suntai's wife, I wonder why people don't learn lessons. The same way the late president's health perpendicularity was shrouded in secrecy until life was sniffed out of him (even though he might have died anyways). All in an attempt to remain the FIRST LADY, you did all nasty things to "kill" your so-called "sweetheart" and father of your children, when ordinarily you should have allowed him to manage his health. But then, what was the end result? You became a NO LADY, not to even talk of the dirty rancor that ensued between you and your successor. Why couldn't Suntai's wife take a cue from this?

I read a report days ago about a news daily reporter who paid a courtesy but unscheduled visit to the ailing governor on Saturday 25th August at his Sea View Hospital Rehabilitation Centre & Home which is located on 460 Brielle Ave., Staten Island, New York, NY 10314, United States. This was just hours before the ailing governor was whisked into the country. In her words,

".....as demanded, I had to stop by the Medical Desk to ask for the Gov's Room no. But the lady I met, wearing the name tag bearing Dorothy Mointosh-Waddy, Head Nurse, was busy explaining usage of the dispensed drug for Gov. Danbaba Suntai. While waiting, I did a quick look-around. And there he was. I got locked in eye contact with the man himself, Gov. Danbaba Suntai! He sat on a wheelchair in Room 503 beside his bed laid in white three pillows well set aside each one. The name tag on his room read: Dan Fulani. He wore a red T-shirt on an off-white pair of trousers.....But he did not UTTER a word to the reporter, neither did he MOVE his body. He only raised and lowered his head on the same spot.....locked his eyes on the reporter squeezing his face probably for a recollection. This lasted for over ten minutes...."

Why would a woman who professes love for her better-half want him dead at all
cost? Why would she toy with his fragile health when it's obvious the man is far from being okay? If this man drops dead today (God forbids even though everyone is bound to die), will the power-hungry wife remain the state's FIRST LADY? Just askin'
