I Made Deji Commissioner On Merit – Mimiko

GOVERNOR Mimiko, on Wednesday, said that he appointed late Deji Falae as commissioner purely on merit and not because of his father’s connection or position.

Late Deji Falae, who would have clocked 43, yesterday, was the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in the state and the son of former Secretary to Federal Government and former Finance Minister, Chief Olu Falae.

Governor Mimiko while speaking during his second  visit to Chief Olu Falae, yesterday, in Akure, since the incident, said the late commissioner beat the imagination of members of the cabinet  through his excellent performance.

Mimiko who was in  company of his wife, Olukemi and the National Chairman of Labour Party, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu  during the visit said:  “For us in government, he was a star in every considerable dimension that you look at it.

“Deji did not become commissioner because he was Olu Falae’s son; he earned the position based on merit.

“He was appointed commissioner based on his outstanding performance in the assignment that we gave him in that ministry."

The Governor added: “Deji was an excellent commissioner who anybody could see  was an epitome of humility regardless of his family background.”
