E•X•P•R•E•S•S•I•V•E! HYPOCRISY: THE NIGERIA DEFINITION!

Somethin' got me thinking on issues within the polity, issues rocking our political landscape, and like seriously methink we are being 'fooled' here. Yeah, a bit of sentiment as some might see it, but beyond this mawkishness is the truism of this notion for the discerning mind. The term HYPOCRISY in the worldview of the Nigerian political class is chameleonic, defined beyond its superficial and contextual meanings. And like a role model put in an apropos perspective, "congruously" fitting into our situation, it can't be better 'perspectived' (sic)!

Hypocrisy in Nigerian colouration can be re-defined as a scenario where a South-South man or woman criticises their kinsman and Rivers state governor Rotimi Amaechi for joining the All Progressives Congress, APC but the same persons are quick †ơ͡ praise former governor of Sokoto state, Attahiru Bafarawa (who failed †ơ͡ deliver his state for a party he funded and founded, Democratic People's Party-DPP) and erstwhile Kano state's helmsman, Mallam Shekarau for joining the People's Democratic Party-PDP.

Hypocrisy as entrenched in our polity now is when the ruling People's Democratic Party-PDP goes †ơ͡ court †ơ͡ foreclose its National Assembly member-legislators from decamping †ơ͡ the All Progressives Congress but went into celebration galore when the PDP-decamped APC legislators jumped back †ơ͡ the PDP. Hypocrisy is when the Senate president, David Mark refused †ơ͡ read senator Saraki & co's decampment letter †ơ͡ APC but was quick †ơ͡ read Senator Uche Chukwumerije's decampment letter from the Progressive People's Alliance-PPA †ơ͡ the PDP.

Hypocrisy as impressed on me by our situation is when People's Democratic Party-PDP celebrates the decampment of Abia State's Gov. Theodore Ahamefula Orji as well as defeated Imo State's Ikedi Ohakim †ơ͡ the PDP but goes †ơ͡ court †ơ͡ stop Kano State's Rabiu Musa Kwankwoso and others from decamping †ơ͡ the All Progressives Congress. Hypocrisy †ơ͡ me is when the ruling PDP says 16 is greater than 19 in the Nigerian Governors' Forum's (NGF) election and that 5 is greater than 26 in Rivers state House of Assembly in a plot †ơ͡ impeach a sitting Speaker of the House.

Hypocrisy is no doubt when a sitting president, after winning election in 2011 did not deem it fit †ơ͡ junket round visiting the traditional rulers in appreciation of their support for his victory, but comes back in 2014 when an election period lurks †ơ͡ show his appreciation of 3 years ago. Hypocrisy of a truth is when a Minister in the Aviation sector was tactfully dismissed for peculating N255 million but a fellow Minister who oversaw the disappearance of about N3trillion in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) remains untouched! Hypocrisy is when the country loses over 300 of her citizens †ơ͡ the Boko Haram quagmires but the government says "We Are Winning The War"!
