Senator
representing Ondo State Northern Senatorial District in the National Assembly,
Prof. Ajayi Borrofice at the weekend said it will be a walkover for the All
Progressives Congress (APC) if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) picks
President Goodluck Jonathan as its candidate in 2015 general elections.
The
Senator noted that it is the prayer of his party that Jonathan emerges as PDP
presidential flagbearer, adding that this would be a pre-victory and
celebration gallore for APC members if their prayer is answered.
Borrofice
said this while speaking with reporters at his hometown in Oka-Akoko, Akoko
South West local government area of Ondo State during his empowerment programme
for the peoples of his senatorial district.
At the event, which was attended by APC State executives led by Isaac Kekemeke,
over 300 people were empowered with 50 Keke Napep, 45 Petrol Generators, 45
Grinding Machines, 15 Sewing Machines, 12 Wheel Chairs, 20 Cars/Buses among
others.
Borrofice
insisted that Jonathan would be the first incumbent President to be defeated by
opposition party due to the expression of the masses about his administration. His
words...
“We are praying he declares his ambition. Let him contest and emerge as
PDP candidate. It will be so easy for APC to defeat him. His administration has
failed, Nigerians are tired of a government that had brought much pain and they
do not want continuity.
“People
are being killed on a daily basis and the President could not find a solution
to this. Unemployment rate is very high and we are yet to forget what happened
during the last immigration aptitude test where scores of Nigerian unemployed youth
lost their lives.
“Both
the young and the old ones are dying just because poor health sector and
corruption has been legalized. Those who kicked against the President ruling
style are seen as enemies of the nation. So these are reasons why it will be an
easy ride for APC in 2015 if Jonathan is picked as PDP candidate. Nigerians are
watching with keen interest and they believe the best way to change bad
leadership is through their votes in 2015.
The senator also advised the President to do everything possible to secure the
release of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls by members of Boko Haram, noting
that their lives were too important for the nation to toy with.
While
urging his people to allow him to represent them at the Senate for second term,
Borrofice said the essence of the empowerment was to take back to the members
of his constituents who worked hard to get him elected as a Senator so that
they would have some economy capability to sustain themselves.
He
added that the programme was also used to reward APC members in the Senatorial
District, which according to him, would motivate them to work harder for the
party as election year draws nearer.
