Whatever President Gooodluck Jonathan
say, all those in government will start devising means to justify him. Jonathan
said corruption is not high in Nigeria during his media chat and now the
chairman of ICPC, Mr. Ekpo Nta, has come out to support that funny position.
In fact, the ICPC chairman is now
giving us a different definition of corruption. He said this when a delegation
from the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria visited the
commission in Abuja to forge inter-agency partnership against corruption.
In the words of ICPC Chairman: “Stealing is erroneously reported as corruption. We must go back to what we were taught at school to show that there are educated people in Nigeria. We must address issues as we were taught in school to do.”
Nta claimed that Nigerians don't quite understand what constituted
corruption, that Nigerians are ignorant.
The commission’s boss went ahead to compare what he said is the penchant for referring to theft as corruption to the ordinary Nigerian who often called a roadside mechanic an engineer.
