“I Will Become The Most Vibrant Senator From Enugu East” – Frank Nweke



Former Minister of Information and national orientation, Mr. Frank Nweke (junior), has declared his intention to contest for the Enugu East senatorial district seat in 2015.

This is coming amidst speculations that the former Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani and the Chief of Staff to Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, Mrs. Ifeoma Nwobodo are equally interested in the same position.


Meanwhile, Senator Gilbert Nnaji, chairman, Senate committee on communication, who is currently representing the zone is also said to be nursing ambition to return to the Senate.
The former minister, who hails from Ozalla, in Nkanu West Local Government Area of the state, served as information minister between june 2005, to January 2007 under former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.

Announcing his ambition to journalists at his Enugu residence on Saturday, the erstwhile minister, who is the incumbent Director- General, Nigeria Economic Summit Group, (NESG) said he decided to join the race because of his desire to provide quality representation to people of the zone.

“I believe I am eminently qualified, and has what it takes to represent the good people of Enugu east senatorial zone at the senate come 2015.

“I also strongly believed that I have what it takes to become the most effective and vibrant Senator Enugu-East senatorial district has ever produced, if given the opportunity to serve in 2015″.

Asked how he intend to slug it out with his former boss and ally, and former Governor of Enugu state, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, who speculations are making the rounds in some quarters that he is also interested in the office, Nweke said, with due respect to all those nursing the ambition for the seat, “but it is the electorate of the area that will decide who will represent them” at the upper chamber of the National Assembly NASS in 2015.
However, he declined comment on the political platform he would use to actualize the ambition.
