2014 World Cup: “We Must Not Put Keshi Under Pressure” – Sports Minister

The Minister for Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi, has said that Stephen Keshi, should not be put under undue pressure and it was unnecessary to set targets for the Super Eagles coach, ahead of next year’s World Cup in Brazil.

Abdullahi stated that although it would be great to see Nigeria lift the trophy, talks about setting targets would be counter-productive and introduce pressure into the squad.

“What I wish for is for us to win the World Cup and I think that is what every Nigerian wishes for,” Abdullahi admitted.

“But for talks of setting target for coach Stephen Keshi, I don’t think that is necessary because it would put him under unnecessary pressure.”

The Super Eagles have been placed in Group F alongside Iran, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Argentina.
