“Suarez is an angel off the pitch and a demon on the field” – Wenger

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, has said that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, is an “angel who turns into a demon on the pitch”.

The Frenchman saw the Anfield club turn down two offers in the summer for the Uruguay international, as the Gunners sought to trigger a complex £40million clause in his contract.

Although Suarez was eager to leave the Reds, a move did not materialise, but that has not stopped Wenger’s admiration for the tricky frontman.

“He is an angel,” he told Telefoot. “He turns into a demon when he is on the pitch. We all dream of having players like that. According to information I had about him, he is beyond reproach away from the pitch.

“He has a provocative personality. All the English defenders hate to play against him.”

The former Ajax player is currently the top goalscorer in the league with 15 goals, despite being banned for the first five games of the season.
