“It Was Special To Break Champions League Record” – Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has said it was special for him to break the goalscoring record in the UEFA Champions League group stages.

The Real Madrid forward scored his ninth goal in five appearances, as the Spanish club defeated FC Copenhagen 2-0. The 28-year-old who also missed a penalty, admitted he was not back to his best following injury.

“The objective is complete, the team played very well on a field that was very bad. I’ve broken a record in the Champions League and I’m very happy,” he was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.

“The team is very good, confident, and playing attractive football.

“I’m coming back bit by bit. I’m at a good level, but not my best. I feel good and eager to help the team.

“All goals are important for the team and it was special to break the record today, but I don’t think about records. The main goal is to win.”
